It Never Happened ¨It Never Happened¨ is a short film written and directed by Karmyn Lott that deals with the serious subject of child abuse. The story takes place in a rural Texas town in the early 60´s. The central character is Dolly a twelve year old girl who uses her world of fantasy to escape from her dysfunctional family. Since the subject matter and language were quite graphic an actual child of that age could not be cast. The onus was on the Designer to take the 35 year old actress and transform her into a precocious little girl. By using color and proportion in the selection of her wardrobe it was possible to achieve the Director's goal.
