My client was voted Mardi Gras King for the Krewe of Katy as part of the 2019 Mardi Gras festivities. Many cities throughout the United States celebrate Mardi Gras. The Mardi Gras of Galveston event is one of the oldest in the country and even supersedes the better known one that takes place in New Orleans.
This years King was a former Green Beret, and as such we wanted to incorporate aspects of his military service along with the traditional conceits of a Mardi Gras King.
For the color of his jacket we chose a Green Beret Green, made from a beautiful Duchess Silk Satin, as were his cream colored slacks. The trimmings were made of gold bullion stitched trim from India and his epaulets were ordered from a well known military supplier, then trimmed with the bullion stitched appliqués. Authentic brass Fleur de Lys buttons added a touch of authenticity, as did the medals embellishing the uniform.
